Standard Life’s Joseph Iannicelli named among top Québec financial leaders

Montréal, February 11, 2009 – Joseph Iannicelli, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Standard Life Assurance Company of Canada, has been named among the top three leaders of the financial services industry of 2008 by Québec financial newspaper Finance et Investissement. It is the second time that Mr. Iannicelli is included in the annual list of 25 economic and financial newsmakers since he was appointed at the helm of the Company in January 2005. This recognition shows Mr. Iannicelli’s leadership and strength as well as Standard Life’s solid position in the market.

“I am honoured to be part of such an influential group of leaders, especially considering the challenging environment our industry has faced in 2008,” said Mr. Iannicelli. “I cannot accept this recognition without thanking everyone at Standard Life for their continuous efforts in striving to take the Company to the top.”

Launched in 2000, the Top 25 lists the leading financial corporate executives in Québec every year. The nominees are chosen by reporters and editors from various financial newspapers and magazines published by Transcontinental Media.
