Rehabilitation program

Rehabilitation can be a fundamental component for many individuals who are absent due to a disability. We work in partnership with employers to reduce claim costs and to invest in their workers’ health and productivity over the long run. The program includes:

  • A medical aspect, where early screening helps identify the appropriate medical treatment plan and increases the probability of a timely recovery.
  • A conciliatory aspect, in that we can be called upon to intervene and find win-win solutions for all stakeholders.
  • A financial aspect, whereby we eliminate the concern of financial hardship by continuing disability benefit payments throughout the rehabilitation process.
  • A social aspect, whereby rehabilitation professionals assist the disabled employee in identifying, understanding and overcoming difficulties associated with the sociological aspect of disability such as family, finances and health care.
  • A vocational aspect, where our primary objective is to effectively reintegrate disabled employees into the workplace.

With Standard Life’s disability coverage, the rehabilitation program is available while the employee is still receiving short-term disability benefits. We are committed to early intervention as it facilitates and accelerates a disabled employee's return to work. A client’s dedicated disability analyst and the assigned rehabilitation specialist examine each case individually and focus on abilities, skills and past successes to help disabled employees return to a productive life. Every effort is made to help the employer reintegrate the returning employee.
